Michael J Katz, MD , FACS
Dr. Michael Katz graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 1992 and received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1997. He then completed a General Surgery internship and subsequent Otolaryngology Head & Neck residency at the prestigious Boston University Medical Center. His training included rotations in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children's Hospital in Boston as well as at the Lahey Clinic. Dr. Katz completed his residency in 2002 and served as the Chief Resident for the Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery from 2001-2002.
Dr. Katz is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and is currently a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His areas of expertise include treatment of sinus disease, nasal polyps, pediatric otolaryngology, hearing and balance disorders, thyroid and Parathyroid disorders, head and neck cancer and voice disorders. Dr. Katz is trained in performing ultrasound examination of the Head & neck and performs ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration biopsies (FNA) of thyroid nodules in both the Rutherford and Clifton offices. He also has a special interest in performing functional endoscopic sinus surgery with the utilization of Stereotactic image guidance.
Dr. Katz performs surgeries at the state of the art Meadows Surgery Center in Rutherford, NJ and is also on staff at Hackensack University Medical Center where he is involved in teaching Otolaryngology residents rotating from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is also on staff at Mountainside Hospital. Dr. Katz sees patients in both the Rutherford and Clifton offices.
